I need feminism because being good at football doesn’t make me ‘a man’ or any less of a girl.

If you’re lesbian and you fall for a guy
FINE
If you’re gay and you fall for a woman
FINE
If you’re bisexual and you have a preference for girls
FINE
If you’re bisexual and you have a preference for guys
FINE
If you’re pansexual and have a preference
FINE
What’s not fine is telling someone they can’t love another person because it doesn’t fit into the confinements of a label.

Lewis’s law is an observation she made in 2012 that states “the comments on any article about feminism justify feminism.” Lewis has written frequently about misogynist hate directed at women online.[8]

This shows something I’ve been coming across a LOT lately in almost every article that even hints at patriarchy, female subjugation (historical and present), talks about the need for feminism or even just quotes government collected data on sexual assault and violence on women.

The standard comments generally come in three varieties -

1) “We don’t need feminism any more because patriarchy doesn’t exist and ‘feminazis’ are just using old history to make men feel guilty, take away their rights and talk down to them.”

2) “Yeah women have it rough, but men have it rough too! I’ve personally been discriminated against by women/in favour of women because I’m a man. All I’m saying is that women should see that they aren’t the only ones suffering.”

3) “I’m tired of this gender war! Women should stop complaining because there are bigger problems in the world!”

The first two are the most prevalent. Blatant deniers and passive-aggressive deniers. I’m not sure what version of this world they live in where female opinions and rights dominate men’s. Certainly they may have been badly treated by women in their lives or been passed over for a promotion that went to a woman. I don’t deny women can be jerks and manipulative and mean. They are PEOPLE. All people can be jerks, manipulative and mean. Doesn’t mean you close your eyes to larger sufferings because you’re peeved with a handful of people whose gender is more prominent in your eyes than their individual characters.

unfortunately as you probably already know, people: What To Do When You Have No Plot

writingbox:

Sometimes you want to write, but you have no plot ideas. Perhaps your fingers are itchy to write, you want to meet a submissions deadline, a character is bugging you to tell their story, or a single image, phrase, or scene is sitting heavy in your head. But you still can’t find…
